Our porridge can be used not only to bake delicious cakes , but also this hearty oat bread. The recipe does not contain wheat flour, but rather spelled and wholemeal flour. A fully-fledged alternative if you don't want porridge in the morning.

On a Sunday morning the bread tastes particularly delicious fresh from the oven. Perfect for a picnic or breakfast in the garden!

Preparation

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together. Form a small well in the mixture - add the buttermilk, water and butter here. Knead everything in slowly.
  2. Knead the dough really well.
  3. Let the dough sit in a warm place for as long as possible to let it rise (2 to 3 hours is best).
  4. Pour the mixture into a baking pan (a box is best). Brush the dough with a little water and sprinkle some oat flakes over it for decoration.
  5. Bake the bread for about 30 to 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
